Sometimes you have to kill a lot of people to make a film. That's pretty much what the first chase is costing us... Lives- and lots of them.

First filming takes place

Donny, Premium, Marky and I started work on the remake today. We messed about for over an hour for... Ohh 40 seconds of footage! This was all about getting started. Camera work is hard. I will have to change my controller sensitivity to stop last second "jiggle".

Execution on Turf
Premium had to shoot Donny in the head as Donny ran past. Sounds easy? Well he had to 1/ Have his gun lowered (you lower your gun by pressing down on D Pad) and then 2/ raise it (zoom) and then 3/ hit the head shot at a running target. Did it and did it well. Kept reloading after each hit- as is his habit. Well done Premium. Here's where we shot it:

It's good to have a few extra people about to help move things and work as body doubles- ie positioning themselves so other actors can see where they need to be for a particular scene.
Those same extras can then get bored and kill random actors, directors and set designers.
Having the movie in the DVD player at the same time is very handy when you are unsure of a particular scene.

This Will be Amended as we add shooting details and so on...

My life fades

the vision dims.

All that remains are memories.

I remember a time of chaos

ruined dreams this wasted land.

But most of all, I remember the Road Warrior

the man we called Max.

To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time

when the world was powered by the black fuel

and the deserts sprouted great cities of pipe and steel.

Gone now swept away.

For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war

and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all.

Without fuel they were nothing. They'd built a house of straw.

The thundering machines sputtered and stopped.

Their leaders talked and talked and talked

but nothing could stem the avalanche.

Their world crumbled the cities exploded.

A whirlwind of looting

a firestorm of fear.

Men began to feed on men.

On the roads it was a white-line nightmare.

Only those mobile enough to scavenge

brutal enough to pillage would survive.

The gangs took over the highways

ready to wage war for a tank of juice.

And in this maelstrom of decay

ordinary men were battered and smashed.

Men like Max

the warrior Max.

In the roar of an engine, he lost everything

and became a shell of a man

a burnt out, desolate man

a man haunted by the demons of his past.

A man who wandered out into the wasteland.

And it was here in this blighted place

that he learned to live again.

we traveled far beyond the reach of men on machines.

Thejuice, the preciousjuice, was hidden in the vehicles.

As for me, I grew to manhood

and in the fullness of time, I became the leader

the Chief of the Great Northern Tribe.

And the Road Warrior?

That was the last we ever saw of him.

He lives now

only in my memories.

Before We Begin

The plan is simple- we are going to reshoot Mad Max 2 (USA Title: "The Road Warrior") using the Halo 2 game engine. This is a style of animation known as machinima. Yes, this is madmaxmech.blogspot.com to include the mechanical elements of the movie. My aren't we clever.

My life fades. The vision dims. All that remains are memories. I remember a time of chaos. Ruined dreams. This wasted land. But most of all, I remember The Road Warrior. The man we called "Max". To understand who he was, you have to go back to another time. When the world was powered by the black fuel. And the desert sprouted great cities of pipe and steel. Gone now, swept away. For reasons long forgotten, two mighty warrior tribes went to war and touched off a blaze which engulfed them all. Without fuel, they were nothing. They built a house of straw. The thundering machines sputtered and stopped. Their leaders talked and talked and talked. But nothing could stem the avalanche. Their world crumbled. The cities exploded. A whirlwind of looting, a firestorm of fear. Men began to feed on men. On the roads it was a white line nightmare. Only those mobile enough to scavenge, brutal enough to pillage would survive. The gangs took over the highways, ready to wage war for a tank of juice. And in this maelstrom of decay, ordinary men were battered and smashed. Men like Max. The warrior Max. In the roar of an engine, he lost everything. And became a shell of a man, a burnt out, desolate man, a man haunted by the demons of his past, a man who wandered out into the wasteland. And it was here, in this blighted place, that he learned to live again...
